Paul’s global executive experience includes CEO APAC & Middle East for Capgemini where he was responsible for 9,000 staff across all of Capgemini’s global disciplines – consulting, technology and outsourcing. A lot of Paul’s time was spent establishing, building and transforming country practices to align with the digital acceleration in the market.

Paul’s experience allows him to bring a wide perspective to his coaching: “I think having the opportunity to work in industry as a line manager on the shop floor to then drive intense project environments and subsequently run huge multicultural/next generation teams has been a great learning experience.  Operating in a 44 country, matrix model of country, industry and offerings certainly teaches you how to find the right stakeholders and arguments to make things happen.”

Paul’s approach to his coaching reflects his career experience: “My approach is to develop people, who firstly must sincerely want to improve, from typically outstanding technical individuals, to executive leaders and then to match their talents with the right opportunities.” Paul has found that one of the most frequent barriers to personal growth is to miss the bigger picture and the context.

“I’ve learnt that you have to be very straightforward with people and once, and it can take time, you’ve created a trusting relationship, you need to be as precise in your feedback as possible. I try very hard through the coaching process to motivate individuals to want to do even better tomorrow, than they did yesterday.”

“I think the first attribute of a successful coach is listening skills, followed by asking the right questions. From there it’s about suspending judgement and jointly developing a full understanding of the challenges and hurdles that may be limiting the growth potential of an individual or an organisation.

Then it’s finally all about working together creatively, intuitively and analytically on finding solutions and more effective working approaches.”
